Living Sacrifice - Past & Present
The name, Living Sacrifice, comes from the passage of scripture in Romans 12:1 where
Paul challenges us "to present ourselves as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable,
that which is our reasonable service." The scripture-based name was just the beginning
for
Kyle Dill
and
Marty Archer in 1984 when they formed LIVING SACRIFICE. At first,
Kyle and Marty were joined by two other friends to kick-off a back-to-school rally on
the campus of Northeast Missouri State University (now Truman State University). Each
were actively involved in the Baptist Student Center and felt a call to go beyond those
activities and sing in surrounding areas. Kirksville, Missouri was and still is home-base
for LIVING SACRIFICE. Their scope of singing has grown over the years to surrounding
states and beyond. Today, Kyle and Marty are joined by their wives.
Lisa Archer met
Marty in the mid 80's and after they were married she worked behind the scenes in the
ministry. One night, she was called on to fill-in for the tenor who had become sick
with the flu. Soon, the tenor left the group and Lisa added the new alto part.
Patty Dill
joined LIVING SACRIFICE in 1987 as the pianist. At that point, LIVING SACRIFICE,
developed their own style and arrangements to songs and started writing their own music.
Patty later stepped into singing after the long-time baritone left the group. At that
point, it was only temporary.
In the summer of 1991, Marty, Lisa, Kyle and Patty made their first journey to Nashville
for the two-week music school, Stamps-Baxter School of Music. It was important to them
to refine their talents and to develop a music and ministry-style all their own. Ben
Speer took them under his wing and produced their first Nashville project. New songs,
Ben's encouragement and their first radio single started the ground work for a great new
ministry. The foursome was encouraged by God's definite anointing on their music and
pursued new avenues in music ministry.
On the home front, Marty and Lisa live in Kirksville and have a son, Cole. Kyle and
Patty Dill live nearby in Macon, MO. The blend of two married couples gives audiences
a glimpse of the banter in their busy lives. Sharing a ministry as two families gives
them an open door to challenge families to share about Jesus. You will always hear them
say that ministry is what LIVING SACRIFICE is all about. In the scope of 20 years,
they've sung many songs that have influenced many lives. "We'll never know the true
impact of what God has done with our ministry until He calls us home, but it's certainly
our mission to continue doing what we can to show what Jesus can do for a lost soul."
LIVING SACRIFICE makes their recording home with Zion Music Group in Nashville, TN.
Kevin McManus has produced their last 7 projects. In 2003, they were nominated for a
Diamond Award as Group of the Year. They are featured each year on the Gospel Fest Cruise
hosted by the Hunts. Each year, they perform at the Mid West Quartet Convention and
are members of the Mid West Quartet Association.
They travel anywhere in the US and share their music to many different audiences of all
ages. "Our ministry to the church is to challenge Christians to be bold in their faith
and to share Jesus without fear. Our ministry to communities and the world is to share
how the love of Jesus can save a soul, heal a broken heart, and give hope to anyone who
will call upon Jesus name." It's all about sharing who Jesus is and what He can do for
all people.
